Describe daily life, not just a style

List the people who use the room and the activities it needs to support. Where do you read, work, host guests or store belongings? Write down three things that work and three you want to change. Then select a few reference images and explain what you like about them.

Collect a plan and photographs

Record the dimensions you have and photograph each side of the room. Mark fixed features and items you want to keep. IKEA’s room-planning guidance includes windows, outlets and pipes in a detailed plan. Your first sketch need not be polished; its purpose is to make the existing space understandable.

Make the brief specific to your home

For a Marbella project, state the property location, how often you use it and whether it is occupied during the planned work. Describe your own priorities rather than assuming every Mediterranean home needs the same palette. If you want a yoga corner, include where you would store the mat and what furniture must remain.

Separate priorities from possibilities

Use two lists: essential changes and ideas you would like to explore. Add an approximate overall budget and your preferred timing. Ask the designer to define what the proposal includes, what is quoted separately and which decisions need professional assessment before proceeding.

Prepare your AZORNOVA enquiry

Send the location, room type, reference images, available measurements, approximate budget and intended dates. Tell us whether you are seeking decoration, furniture selection, interior planning or renovation coordination. This gives the initial conversation a clear starting point.
